Iqbal Hussain

IQBAL HUSSAIN is a painter of conscience! Born into Lahore’s notorious ‘Shahi Mohalla’ or the Red Light District, the artist’s trouble childhood is reflected in these sensitive and provocative, vocal paintings that explore the treatment of women. Having graduated from the National College of Arts in 1974, the artist went on to have his first major exhibition in 1981. His work met with opposition and violence by Pakistan’s religious clergy. Trained under master artist Khalid Iqbal, Iqbal Hussain is now recognized as one of Pakistan’s greatest living artists. Email:
